Ed Ishmael is the owner and closing attorney here at Midtown. Ed graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in Education before earning his law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law.

After moving to Dallas, Ed honed his skills at Vial, Hamilton, Koch, and Knox in their fidelity and surety section. He then joined Baker & McKenzie—at the time, the world’s largest law firm—where he spent ten years specializing in international business litigation and insurance defense.

In 1998, he started a real estate title operation in Dallas that spread to Austin in 2006. Then in 2009, Ed opened Ishmael Law Firm, P.C., mostly servicing infill builders, developers, lenders and agents for whom he creates and reviews condominium regimes, drafts and reviews transaction documents, and handles general legal matters.

Ed serves on the Board of the Austin Infill Coalition and is the founder of Builders Care Austin—a non-profit through which infill builders and associated trades and vendors give back to the communities in which they build.
